Thereafter, he was with the law firm of McCarter and English, Newark, NJ for three years before moving to Lakewood, New Jersey to join Lawrence E. Bathgate, II in founding the firm Bathgate & Wegener. As a result of several major road construction projects in Monmouth and Ocean Counties during the middle 1970’s including the widening of Route 9 from Freehold to Lakewood and the construction of I-195, Mr. Wegener developed experience in representing property owners in condemnation cases. Over the past thirty years, with the exception of handling several complex tort litigation cases, as well as asset division cases related to divorce and partition matters, he has focused on representing property owners in eminent domain cases.
