Biography: Mr. Kasselman is a partner and member of the Executive Committee of Bathgate, Wegener & Wolf, P.C. Mr. Kasselman joined the firm in 1983, and was made a partner in 1986. In 1988, Mr. Kasselman was certified by the Supreme Court of New Jersey as a certified civil trial attorney, and was re-certified in 1995 and 2002. Mr. Kasselman has also been named a New Jersey Super Lawyer.*
Mr. Kasselman’s practice as a senior litigation partner in the firm is concentrated in personal injury, worker’s compensation, products liability, employment litigation, and education law. His trial practice has included matters in New Jersey and Pennsylvania State and Federal courts, as well as before many New Jersey State agencies. He is a member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum, an organization with 2000 members in the United States who have won million and multi-million dollar verdicts, awards and settlements.
As a lecturer on many civil litigation topics, Mr. Kasselman has appeared before professional and citizen groups on more than fifteen occasions. Seminar topics have included: evaluation of personal injury cases, successful use of alternative dispute resolution, working with your attorney to win (citizen group presentation), and improving lawyer/doctor relationships (joint presentation of physicians and attorneys).
Mr. Kasselman is currently an officer of the Ocean County Bar Association, having served as a trustee since 1996 and as Chair of the Civil Practice Committee from 1989 – 1996. He also chaired the Medical/Legal Subcommittee for Professional Relations from 1988 – 1991, and was a member of the Ocean County Trial Court Performance Standards Committee from 1992 – 1993. He is a designated arbitrator for personal injury and contract cases in Ocean and Monmouth Counties , and has served as a Special Master for complex discovery issues, by appointment of (Retired) Superior Court Judge Bernard Kannen. Mr. Kasselman is a Master/Barrister for the Ocean County Inns of Court, since 1992.
In addition, Mr. Kasselman initiated, produced and served as on-air host of a weekly one-hour radio program, Inside the Law, heard on WOBM-AM from March 1993 to December 1993. The program was highly rated and remained on the air through 1999.
Mr. Kasselman has diversified his practice with a keen interest in education law. He has represented the Howell Township Board of Education, the State’s largest K-8 public school district, since 1983 (and the firm has represented the Howell Board of Education continuously since 1968), and has served as special litigation counsel to other districts throughout the State. He also served as a Trustee of the Ranney School , a highly regarded independent pre-K through 12 institution in Tinton Falls , and as Chair of the Board of Trustees from 1997 – 1999.
Mr. Kasselman received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Boston University , with Honors, and his Juris Doctor degree from Temple University in 1977. He is a member of the Pennsylvania and New Jersey Bar Associations, the Monmouth and Ocean County Bar Associations, and the American Trial Lawyers Association.
When not engaged in these professional activities, Mr. Kasselman pursues his interests in tennis, cooking and fine wines.
